Last week residents from downtown Hamilton noticed some new sculptures scattered around downtown. Turns out, they are not actually sculptures at all. They are actually new parking meters purchased by the city. They’re designed to make it easier for millennials to park, while making it far more difficult for the super old Baby Boomers.
One millennial we interviewed, stated that he was "...happy I don’t have to search my mom’s car for spare change anymore", while one Generation X’er said that, “I’m happy to pay for parking! I was just looking for more bills to pay...” a Baby Boomer we interviewed asked, “Does it have the internets, and can I put EVERYTHING IN ALL CAPS?”

When the meters were eventually turned on, locals noticed hundreds of happy shoppers that started waiting in line to pay money to park. Many of the shoppers that we interviewed said that they were "...thrilled" and "...overjoyed" when they learned about the new meters. One shopper said, "I always dreaded shopping downtown because the parking was always free, but now that they put up these new meters I suddenly feel the urge to start spending!" Other shoppers felt the same way, though some were confused as to why they had to pay money to shop when they could just go to Walmart and park for free.
A city official said that he was "happy that meters are working." and that "...our next plan, is to increase taxes for all the new revenue small businesses are making."
